Helvetas supports Ukraine’s labour-market recovery through short-term vocational and skills training in high-demand professions such as welding, plumbing, construction, electrical work, and agriculture.
Training is implemented in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, and Sumy regions — areas where rebuilding the workforce and production capacities is critical for regional resilience.
To date, Helvetas and its partners have enabled more than 740 adults to participate in reskilling and upskilling programmes, with an additional 1,300 people expected to complete training in 2025. Over 50 vocational education institutions have received modern equipment, materials, and teacher support to improve the quality of practical education and ensure alignment with employer needs.
To ensure modern, high-quality training for both course participants and students, Helvetas supports vocational education and training (VET) institutions by providing the equipment and consumable materials necessary for practical learning.

Equal Opportunities for Everyone
Helvetas works to ensure that no one is left behind. Special attention is given to vulnerable groups, including internally displaced persons, women, people with disabilities, and veterans helping them gain new qualifications and access to stable employment.
By linking training initiatives with labour-market analytics and institutional support, Helvetas strengthens Ukraine’s system of vocational education and adult learning, ensuring that it responds to real market needs and contributes to sustainable economic recovery.
