Peterson Paul, MA, MSc

Since 2007, Peterson Paul has been actively engaged in addressing issues related to citizen participation and non-violent collective action through street theater in Haiti. He began his involvement in international development cooperation in 2012, working in various roles in Senegal, the Gambia, Niger, Guinea and Mali. As of January 2023, he assumed the role of Governance and Public Services Advisor at Helvetas, based in Bern. He holds a MA in Sociology and a MSc in Public Policy and Management. Peterson has extensive experience in the Sahel, West and Central Africa, specializing in governance, citizen participation, anti-corruption, child rights governance, gender and social inclusion, community and civic engagement, humanitarian anthropology, development and peacebuilding nexus. His career encompasses a range of technical, coordination, management, and strategic program development roles. He has also contributed to a diverse array of projects to reinforce local governments and civil society in Eastern Europe, establish participatory budgeting mechanisms in East Africa, and assist infrastructural governance initiatives in West Africa and the Caribbean.  In addition to being a good communicator, Peterson is a critical thinker with a can-do attitude and a solution-oriented approach that facilitates positive collaboration with internal and external clients.
