The Greening Private Enterprises in Kosovo (GPEK) project supports Kosovo’s private sector in adopting environmentally sustainable and resource-efficient practices, contributing to the country’s green transition and economic resilience. The project works with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to reduce environmental impact, improve energy and resource efficiency, and align business practices with emerging environmental standards and market requirements.
GPEK is financed by SDC and SIDA and is implemented by Helvetas in partnership with relevant national institutions and private sector actors.

Thematic focus:
- Improved Awareness for Green Transition - GPEK increases awareness and understanding among SMEs, market actors, and stakeholders about the benefits, requirements, and opportunities of green transition. By improving access to information and knowledge, the project supports informed decision-making and encourages businesses to integrate sustainability into their strategies and operations.
- Improved Business Environment for Green Growth - The project contributes to strengthening the business environment to better support green growth. This includes collaboration with relevant institutions and market actors to reduce barriers, improve coordination, and foster conditions that incentivize sustainable investment and environmentally responsible business practices.
- Green Innovation Systems Enable SMEs to Adopt and Scale Sustainable Technologies and Practices - GPEK promotes systemic change by strengthening green innovation systems that allow SMEs to adopt, test, and scale sustainable technologies and practices. Through market-based approaches and partnerships, the project supports long-term transformation toward greener and more competitive enterprises.
