RECONOMY

  • Project Name
    RECONOMY
  • Project Phase
    2020 to 2026
  • Funding
Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida)

RECONOMY is an inclusive and green economic development program implemented across the Eastern Partnership and Western Balkan countries. Funded by Sweden and implemented by Helvetas, the program works with businesses, market actors, public institutions and civil society organizations to strengthen market systems that generate more inclusive, resilient and environmentally sustainable economic development.

Using an inclusive systems approach, or a market systems development (MSD) approach, RECONOMY facilitates systemic change by working through market actors rather than providing direct support. The program strengthens incentives, partnerships and market functions that enable businesses and institutions to continue creating impact long after program support has ended.

How the Program Works

RECONOMY identifies systemic constraints that limit inclusive and green economic development and facilitates partnerships to address them. By testing innovative business models, strengthening market actors and supporting institutional change, the program creates scalable solutions that improve how markets function for women and youth, including the disadvantaged and excluded groups.

Working closely with the private sector, business associations, financial institutions, governments, educational institutions and civil society, RECONOMY promotes sustainable market transformation across the region.
