Supplier and technical support for developing 03 demonstration models of high-tech irrigation and fertigation system in the Central Highlands

Cocoa is a high-value export crop in Vietnam. However, current production faces several challenges, including unstable yields, high production costs, and significant greenhouse gas emissions due to inefficient use of water, fertilizers, and energy.

In Ea Kar (Đắk Lắk) – one of Vietnam's key cocoa-growing areas that frequently suffers from water shortages during the dry season – most farmers still use manual irrigation (dragging hoses to water each tree individually). This outdated method leads to water and fertilizer waste, high labor demands, and increased fuel consumption.

In collaboration with the Nhất Tâm Agricultural Cooperative and VinGroup, Helvetas will implement three demonstration models applying an Israeli technology-based automatic irrigation and fertigation solution (drip irrigation combined with mist sprayers) for cocoa farming in the Central Highlands.

Helvetas is seeking a qualified and experienced supplier to:

  • Provide materials and equipment for the irrigation/fertigation system
  • Deliver technical support for system installation and operation
