Launching the Training of Trainers Program on Land Mediation and Land Policy Advocacy

Helvetas and Land Alliance (LANDA)/Center for Rural Community Development Research (CCRD) are launching the Training of Trainer Program on Land Policies, Land Mediation at grassroots level and Land Advocacy for Ethnic Minorities at 8.00 am on October 12 at Sakura Hotel, No. 4 Le Thanh Tong, Hoa Binh City. The Training Program is designed to provide essential knowledge and skills to professionals, who will replicate the training and provide support to local officials, members of the Commune Mediation Committees (CMCs), and local civil-social organizations on relevant issues at grassroots level.

The Training Program is one of the key activities of the project “Secure Land Rights for All - Giving Ethnic Minorities a Voice” (L4A) funded by the European Union (EU) and co-implemented by Helvetas and LANDA/CCRD in 3 years from June 1st, 2020 to May 31st, 2023. The overall objective is to contribute to the effective promotion and protection of land and forest resource rights of ethnic minorities in the northern provinces of Vietnam.

The Program consists of 5 training courses in 3 months, with the participation of 22 highly qualified people from LANDA’s member organizations and local partners in Cao Bang and Hoa Binh. All of the participants have experience in providing training courses and communication on legal policies. The difference of the Program is its training content (e.g. land policies, mediation) is specifically designed by the project's experts to suit the Project’s beneficiaries who are ethnic minorities in mountainous areas. In addition, this is a highly practical training program with a great emphasis on skill development. After completing 05 training courses, the trainees will replicate the training courses at the commune level for local officials, members of the Commune Mediation Committees (CMCs), village elders, village heads, reputable people, etc. in the Project areas so that they are capable to support marginalized communities to claim their land and forest resource rights and to proactively participate in land governance processes.

The first course on Training Methods and Skills (ToT1) will take place in 3 days from October 12-14 in Hoa Binh city. The next courses include Land Policies for Ethnic Minorities and Policy Contribution Skills (ToT2); Land-related Mediation Skills (ToT3); Communication Skills and Gender Equality in Land Governance (ToT4); Practice on designing training curriculum and providing support for local communities (ToT5).
