"The training was good because it will help me deal with conflicts in the community, as well as in our workplaces, to avoid hurting people's feelings. From now on, I am committed to replicating what I have learned in my social circles," said Judite Limua (Provincial Directorate of Youth, Employment, and Sports) from Nampula, one of the participants in the third training on Conflict Sensitivity, held on December 1 and 2 in the city of Nampula.
Through exercises and group discussions, participants learned different ways of understanding conflict and were introduced to the concept of conflict sensitivity and the three-step approach adopted by Helvetas for working in sensitive and conflict-affected contexts. During the event, participants also discussed the four conflict-sensitive principles, namely respect, accountability, justice, and transparency, and applied them to real-life situations. They also developed their skills in active listening, questioning, and nonviolent communication.
The course was taught by Security Advisor Gércia Aboo and was attended by 25 participants, including representatives from Helvetas partner organizations. This is the fourth conflict sensitivity training course promoted by Helvetas Mozambique since 2022.
