Our Team

Helvetas has been deeply committed to development cooperation in Eastern and Southeast Europe since the early 1990s – initially under the name ‘Intercooperation,’ and later as HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation. We identify with people’s hopes, aspirations and worries. Most of our 145 staff members are from the region.

National teams

In Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia and Ukraine we currently only operate via our regional RECONOMY program. 

Regional team

Our regional team is located in Bern, Switzerland, and in Belgrade, Serbia.

We also have a regional program, RECONOMY, with staff based in 12 countries across Eastern Europe, Western Balkans and South Caucasus. You can find the full team of the RECONOMY program on their website.

Nikola Babić
Nikola Babić leads the Economic Programme for Helvetas in Eastern Europe as the Regional Economic Portfolio Manager. In his current role, he oversees ongoing economic projects within Helvetas' Eastern Europe portfolio and leads business development efforts. Nikola joined the Helvetas Eastern Europe team in 2020 and previously worked as a consultant on various projects across Eastern Europe, West Africa, South Asia, and the Pacific. He holds an M.S. degree in Management from the University of Belgrade.
