Consultancy on Cocoa Seedling Production and Registration for Nhat Thong Daklak

Under the European Union's SWITCH-Asia programme, HELVETAS is implementing the project “Circular Economy Cocoa: From Bean to Bar,” which aims to develop circular economy solutions within the cocoa and agri-food sectors. This project, which began in 2022, is active in 6-7 cocoa-growing provinces across the Central Highlands and Mekong Delta of Vietnam.

Nhat Thong Daklak (NTD) – a partner of the Circular Economy Cacao Project – is an organic agribusiness located in Buôn Hồ district, Daklak province. NTD manages nearly 300 hectares of organic farmland with fully equipped greenhouse facilities, designed and operated under circular economy principles.

HELVETAS is seeking consultancy services to support NTD in developing and operating a cocoa nursery, and for seed garden certification.

The assignment will cover:

• Design phase: assessment of current practices, technical guidance to optimize existing resources, preparation of investment plans, and development of management and technical operation protocols.

• Operational phase: provision of technical training and on-the-job coaching for NTD staff; ongoing monitoring and technical support during the initial nursery operations (including seed preparation, germination, seedling care, grafting, and post-grafting management until ready for field planting).

• Business phase: technical and advisory support for the preparation of registration documents for elite seed garden approval.
