MoU Signing Ceremony between HELVETAS Myanmar, Tea Producer and Exporters’ Association and twelve Private Tea Companies

The Regional BioTrade Project is a project of Switzerland State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) implemented by HELVETAS. The MoU signing ceremonies were held at the office of Myanmar Tea Producer and Exporters’ Association in Mandalay on July 18 and the Helvetas Office in Yangon on August 16, 2018. The collaboration focusses on staff development and training, international marketing and establishment of partnerships for sustainable tea production.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the MoU was signed by U Nyein Chan Win, Deputy Country Director of HELVETAS Myanmar, and Daw Nyo Nyo Sein, Chairwoman of Myanmar Tea Producer and Exporters’ Association. Under the MoU, HELVETAS Myanmar and Myanmar Tea Producer and Exporters’ Association will work together and support each other in development activities of Myanmar’s tea sector.

As a second section, the ceremony was continued by signing between HELVETAS Myanmar and ten private tea companies (Fuji Mandalar Co., Ltd, NICE Co., Ltd, Shwe Taung Koe Lone Co., Ltd, Taw Win Kanbawza Co., Ltd, Ywet Nu Shwe Pyi Co., Ltd, Power Maw Shan Co., Ltd, U Kar Ka Co., Ltd , Shwe Pan Law Co., Ltd, Green Pindaya Co.,Ltd, and Immortal Monarch Co.,Ltd). The MoU signify the joint aspiration of HELVETAS Myanmar and the tea companies to contribute and support for coordination with certification bodies for necessary compliance with international standards and certificates. Moreover, it will be a commitment to support or expand new sustainability markets for Myanmar’s tea sector. At 16th of August 2018, another two companies, Shwin Chang Lone MFG Co.,LTD and Yathar wathi co., LTD joined the Regional BioTrade Project. This MoU was signed by Mr. Peter Schmidt (Country Director) of HELVETAS Myanmar and the representatives from those two tea companies.
