BY: Pinto Namagoa - 19. November 2025

A delegation composed by representatives from the World Bank, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the National Administration of Conservation Areas (ANAC), and the Foundation for the Conservation of Biodiversity (BIOFUND) visited the MozNorte Community Governance project in Chipanje Chetu, Sanga district, Niassa province, on 12th November, aiming to assessing the progress of the activities implemented, ensuring compliance with work plans, and strengthening coordination between the partners involved in the project's implementation.

The visitors went to the communities of Macaloge and Maumbica, interacting with young people training in carpentry; they also witnessed the environmental education work carried out at Maumbica Primary School, where environmental clubs, girls' clubs, and an organized system of assistant teachers and mentors are promoting awareness, conservation, and environmental citizenship activities among children.

In the community of Nova Madeira, the delegation met with the natural resource management and community tax committees, who presented the results achieved in the administration of concession fees and trophies and in the promotion of participatory and transparent management.

The mission also had the opportunity to learn about livelihood diversification projects, with a focus on fish farming initiatives.

The MozNorte Chipanje Chetu Community Governance project is implemented by a consortium led by Helvetas Mozambique and is funded by the World Bank through BIOFUND.
