On May 7, the MozNorte Community Governance Chipanje Chetu project held a workshop to validate the positive and negative impacts identified by communities living in the conservation area in the district of Sanga, Niassa Province. The initiative involved representatives from the communities of 2º Congresso, Mowoola, Nova Madeira, Ntwara, and Maumbica.

The meeting was based on the SAPA (Social Assessment of Protected Areas) methodology and included the participation of various stakeholders, including government representatives, members of local communities, Community Management Councils, Natural Resource Management Committees, as well as implementing partners, including ESTAMOS. The Provincial Agriculture Service, the District Economic Activities Service of Sanga District, and the Niassa Provincial Directorate of Territorial Development and Environment also participated.

The main objective of the activity is to contribute to reducing the challenges faced by communities living in conservation areas by promoting more inclusive and sustainable management of natural resources.

The MozNorte project is funded by the World Bank through the Biodiversity Conservation Foundation and implemented by a consortium led by Helvetas.
