Helvetas Mozambique officially handed over vehicles, namely one car, five motorcycles, and 20 bicycles, to the Chipanje Chetu Co-management Committee (COGECO) as part of the implementation of the MozNorte Chipanje Chetu project, funded by the Foundation for the Conservation of Biodiversity (BIOFUND). The ceremony, held on the 14th of August in the village of Nova Madeira, Sanga district, Niassa province, was led by the Secretary of State for Niassa province, Silva Livone, who highlighted the importance of strengthening community conservation and combating illegal mining.

Apart from the transport vehicles that will improve mobility and COGECO's responsiveness in managing natural resources, the occasion was marked by the delivery, through the Secretary of State of that province, about 4 million meticais to five communities in Chipanje Chetu, an amount corresponding to the wildlife exploitation fees from 2024.

The MozNorte Chipanje Chetu Project aims to support the improvement of the resilience of vulnerable communities, with a special focus on women and young people, by investing in the improvement of livelihoods and contributing to the sustainable management of natural resources in rural areas of northern Mozambique.
