The year 2021 was marked by the beginning of the commercial production process of the EM2/Biospray is currently the great alternative to the shortage of biological products for the treatment of agricultural fields of small producers and companies involved in the process of organic production. This is an innovation promoted by HELVETAS Mozambique's Peanut, Cashew, and sustainable Businesses (AMCANE) project, since 2018 with the objective of fighting the fungi that cause huge losses to agricultural producers.

In the last 3 years, the AMCANE project contacted several actors, Jacaranda being one of those that showed interest in testing the product in their extensive Banana and Cashew production areas. After established agreements and articulation between the parties, the company Efficient Microorganism Research Organization (EMRO) sent its technician to produce EM2/Biospray in Mozambique to perform fungus control tests to cashew and banana trees. The tests, conducted in the fields of producers assisted by the AMCANE project and companies such as Deep roots, Eco Energia (Ouro Verde) and Jacaranda, showed significant results in controlling fungi and diseases affecting the cashew and banana crops using EM2, locally called Biospray.

Demand for EM2/Biospray in Northern Mozambique

As a result of the activities of the AMCANE Project involving several individual producers and organized in Cooperatives, Jacaranda currently has a network of producers involved in organic production and with interest in using the product that has shown good efficiency for the treatment of Cashew against Powdery Mildew. The total demand for Biospray in Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Niassa provinces is around 600 thousand liters.
