Our Team

Helvetas has been deeply committed to development cooperation in Eastern Europe since the early 1990s – initially under the name ‘Intercooperation,’ and later as HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation. We identify with people’s hopes, aspirations and worries.

Our structure brings together three essential levels:

  1. Head Office in Switzerland - The global centre that defines organizational policies, standards, and strategic oversight. For more on the leadership guiding Helvetas globally, visit the Management Board & Board of Directors page.

  2. Regional Team - A network of experts based across Eastern Europe, with our strategic hub in Belgrade. They guide program coordination, technical excellence, and quality assurance across all our initiatives.

  3. Country Managers - Dynamic leaders in countries accross Eastern Europe, implementing the regional strategy on the ground while fostering meaningful partnerships and local ownership.

Regional team

Our regional experts are based in Switzerland and across Eastern Europe, anchored by our Belgrade office. From here, they provide strategic direction, technical expertise, and administrative support - all while facilitating cross-border knowledge sharing and innovation.
