We are pleased to announce that Helvetas USA has joined 1% for the Planet as a nonprofit partner! This partnership is intended to advance our impact as well as involve more businesses and individuals in the environmental movement.

1% for the Planet is a global organization that exists to ensure our planet and future generations thrive. The organization inspires businesses and individuals to support environmental nonprofits through membership and everyday actions. It makes environmental giving easy and effective through partnership advising, impact storytelling and third-party certification.

Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, 1% for the Planet's business members and individual members have given more than $375 millon to approved nonprofit partners like Helvetas USA.

“The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems,” writes Yvon Chouinard, co-founder of 1% for the Planet. Today, the global network consists of 5,500 businesses, individuals and 5,300 environmental nonprofits working toward a better future for all.

"Helvetas works alongside vulnerable communities in almost 40 countries to address the climate issues that threaten people's lives and livelihoods," said Christian Steiner, CEO of Helvetas USA. "Movements like 1% for the Planet help broaden the reach and impacts of our environmental programs. We look forward to exploring new opportunities for collective action through this powerful community."
