Around 30,000 people will be assisted by HELVETAS as part of the project to assist displaced persons and their host communities in the province of Cabo-Delgado.
The project is implemented in partnership with AMASI and the District Infrastructure Services in the districts of Ancuabe and Chiure.
The aim is to provide water and sanitation services to the displaced people, improving access to drinking water, and ensuring basic standards of hygiene for IDPs and host communities.
The activities of this project will focus on the opening and rehabilitation of water holes, construction of temporary latrines in transit centers, training of health personnel to control possible outbreaks of cholera, awareness raising for the prevention of covid-19, and distribution of hygiene and dignity kits for the displaced.
The project will also support local health authorities to manage cholera cases in the districts and prevent the spread of outbreaks.
The project is funded by UNICEF and Swiss Solidarity and will last one year.
