Martin Dietz holds a degree in food technology and food chemistry. He has worked in development cooperation in long-term positions in Nepal and on the Western Balkans. He has also acted in an advisory role in many countries in South- and Southeast Asia as well as Southern and Eastern Africa. He provides in-depth experience in value chain and market systems development with a wide range of different commodities. Martin has worked on establishing quality assurance systems mainly in the private sector. More recently, he has focused on the functionalities of knowledge systems and on linking research with policy systems for the purpose of better quality public policies, including aspects of policy analysis.
