Kaspar Schmidt, MSc, PhD

Kaspar Schmidt is a Forest Scientist (ETH Zurich) with a PhD on Rural Livelihoods and Development in Kyrgyzstan (University of Reading). He has worked in development cooperation and research since 1999 and has particular expertise in natural resources management and governance, forestry, local livelihoods, climate change and poverty alleviation. Kaspar also has significant experience in project planning and evaluation as well as in policy analysis and development. He joined Helvetas in 2006 and has led the working area Environment and Climate Change since 2013 after four years of advisory work on community forestry in the Himalayas in Bhutan.
