Sustainable and Inclusive Economies
This strategic partnership has the objective to ensure an enabling environment that contributes to support changes related to small producer empowerment and inclusive markets following a lobby and advocacy approach. This will create conditions for fair economic, social and political development and extend choices and opportunities for the poor and excluded groups as producers, consumers and wage earners. Through a bottom up approach, grassroots civil society groups are trained to feed input into regional and national platforms. As a consequence, the overall space for the CSOs to operate is strengthened.
Helvetas is working with union level producers’ network and sub-district level service providers associations to develop their capacity in influencing policy through lobby and advocacy for inclusive market with focus on production, service delivery and market aspects. Specific coaching and support is provided to both newly formed and existing union producer’s networks.
Concretely Helvetas supports union network of producers to review their existing lobby and advocacy strategies and develop new strategies; implement their lobby and advocacy activities with public and private stakeholders; strengthen their organizational and leadership capacity; establish networks with similar platforms at regional and national level. Helvetas facilitates public private initiative platforms through the inclusion of public-sector, traders association, service provider association and producers’ organization. The market actors are the key players in this project, and Helvetas strengthens their capacity to understand the approach of public private initiatives so that they are able to collectively influence relevant public and private sectors to advocate for their needs.
Helvetas is working with the following stakeholders: partners’ NGOs, service providers association, local government, public extension agencies, producer’s networks, private company and cooperative.
The project is implemented in partnership with ICCO Cooperation and funded by the Government of the Netherlands.
