Projects and awareness-raising
The focus of HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation’s activities is abroad. With projects in Africa, Asia, South America and Eastern Europe, we strive to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged people. In Switzerland, HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation raises public awareness about issues affecting people in the South and seeks to influence development policy.

Professionalism and partnership
HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation knows from almost six decades of experience that technical knowledge alone is not sufficient to make a lasting impact through development cooperation. It is only when there is a dialogue between cultures and when people can express their needs and abilities that real development occurs.

Improving living conditions
HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation is involved in every area that has an impact on people’s livelihoods - water, food and the environment, as well as bridges and roads. Through educational programmes and building democracy, HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation enables disadvantaged people to actively determine and improve their living conditions.

In Switzerland and internationally
HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation voices its views on development policy in Switzerland and internationally by means of statements, petitions and campaigns, by participating in global networks and through its membership of Alliance Sud, the political lobbying body of the major Swiss development agencies.
