The Laos Civil Society Support project aims to support and strengthen civil society at national and regional level through partnerships and capacity development as well as strengthening networks and alliances around specific topics.
Civil Society support in Laos
HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Laos supports the civil society to get organised and coordinated by promoting thematic networks, strengthening collaborative efforts and learning. One such initiative is the Learning House, which is both a physical space and informal network for civil society organizations in Laos, where civil society meets to learn from each other, exchange experiences, strategize and coordinate with each other and relevant development partners. The project also offers capacity building to civil society organisations to improve their services to communities, as part of a consortium with other development partners. Furthermore, the project facilitates civil society organisations to be connected to and involved in the current policy dialogue, such as for the Aid Effectiveness Agenda Multi-stakeholder exchange forums. Through facilitation, the civil society organisations shall gain confidence and capacity to effectively advocate and present themselves. Links between Lao based organizations and partners in neighbouring countries will be established and further programmatic issues will be elaborated.
